The best middle ground where you can get the quality of a gym elliptical, but at a far more affordable price is Pro Form. Their machines typically cost between $749 – $1999 and have outstanding warranties on their products.

The 7-day shredding meal plan can serve you as a great guideline, however, I do recommend personalizing it depending on your own goals. For example, you can use an online calorie calculator and protein calculator to make sure that you are getting all the energy and nutrients that you need. As you know, we all come in different shapes and sizes and our goals are not identical. Once you know what your body to perform optimally and to get the best results you can make the proper adjustments. For example, I myself need to eat approximately 2100 calories per day to support my daily activity and workouts and to build strong muscles… not that a random calculator will give you the straight answer but with trial and error you can find the perfect fit for yourself. Hope this answers your question.

Whether you want to look lean and trim, or show off your hard-earned muscle, you’ll need to burn off excess fat. This meal plan, devised by personal trainer Rich Phillipps, will help you shed flab with a well-balanced diet of high-quality protein (that’ll support your muscle mass and keep you satiated), low-GI carbs, plenty of nutritious veg and healthy fats that will provide you with ample energy for your fat-burning efforts in the gym.

Eating for weight loss doesn’t need to be boring or hard. Below you’ll find a simple 7-day eating plan that delivers just 1,500 healthy, nutritious calories each day – perfect for fat loss and keeping you feeling full and satisfied.

You will be following an upper/lower split and weight training 4 times per week. Each of these workouts should take 45 to 60 minutes. There are two optional days per week for cardio, weak point, and ab training.

Building muscle helps you lose inches all around, keeps your metabolism going after leaving the gym and will help you look better, too. Researchers even discovered that weight training could be more beneficial for reducing belly fat than aerobic exercise. (3)

While the nutrition component of the system could have been enough in itself, the bonus work out and exercise videos that come with it will help you not just to loss weight, but also get tighter, sexier body shape at the same time. I can see it’s slowly but surely changing the shape of my body. Lots of weight loss programs that didn’t work for me did have one crucial component I still needed – social support. But since I’m raising my kids, it’s not always easy for me to get to group meetings. The program helped me with that too, since it includes access to a great online VF Community of other women who are going through the exact same process with me. We are able to give each other encouragement and share our victories. I will say, at first, when I got the program, I felt disappointed. At the time, I was looking for a flashy celebrity diet and I wanted something that would help me lose all the weight in a month or so. Now I know that’s not realistic, but I can’t help but hope for instant results! I’ve been thrilled with the results so far, and the fact that weight has been steadily coming off now. I can now fit in dresses that I gave up on years ago. I don’t have to starve myself or take harmful medications. Now that I better understand the role of leptin and the physiology of the female body, I can outsmart my fat-hoarding genes and look like a sexy young mom again!

Feel like something ‘Salty or Crunchy?’ Bags of potato chips are nutritionally bankrupt. Instead, boost the flavour and keep your waistline in check by tossing thinly sliced root vegetables like parsnips, carrots, sweet potato’s and beets with olive oil, salt and pepper. Roast in a 200°C oven until browned and crispy. Quick and easy high-fibre snacks like popcorn are great too. But bypass the supermarket bags. Instead, make your own by adding 1/4 cup of popcorn kernels to a microwavable bag, along with a few teaspoons of vegetable oil and whatever spices you like. Curry, chili powder and herbs like thyme, rosemary and oregano all work well. Microwave on high for 2-3 minutes and enjoy!

Hey Matt, I totally get that… it can be a challenge at times! You can try substituting with popcorn (with no or little butter or olive oil and little salt) or maybe some chopped veggies with a tbsp. of hummus. You don’t want to starve yourself, ever, if you feel “hunger” then definitely EAT, just try to make smarter choices. I also like to have soup ready in the fridge that I can just heat up and serve to fill myself up. I usually prepare “potages”, basically cooking up veggies with little water and then season to taste and blend to a smooth and creamy texture. One of my favorites is quite simple actually, I cook broccoli with very little water (you want to see your broccoli sticking out of the water), 2 garlic cloves and seasoning, blend and serve, absolutely delicious (just make sure you use a small amount of water, you can always add water if your soup turns out too thick but you cannot remove it). Hope this helps a little Matt, keep eating real food, keep moving daily and YOU WILL GET RESULTS – no extreme are needed 😉

Most weight loss programs are designed with busy, successful middle-aged women and men in mind, especially those who have put on weight in recent years and want to get back into their “skinny jeans.” While women are often the target consumer for these products, more and more men are also turning to weight loss programs for support.

(This advice only works if you’re taking in too many calories to begin with, though. If you’ve already been on low-cal diet, you may need to up your intake to see healthy results. Case in point: This rockstar.)

Weight loss maintenance: Does this program offer a long-term maintenance plan for permanent fat loss? The program should have a specific plan in place, with specific suggestions, guidance and support.

If you are the type of person who would benefit from using cheat meals and feel they will help you stick to your diet in the long term, then you should definitely make cheat meals a regularly scheduled part of your diet. Ideal use would be a maximum of 1-2 cheat meals (properly done) per week.

Eat lean protein. Go for beef that is 98% lean and only 2% fat. Go for chicken breast without the skin attached. Soy products like edamame or tofu are also high in protein, as are many types of fish, including salmon.

While you’ll need a balanced diet that includes unprocessed foods like whole grains, fruits, veggies and healthy fats to lose weight, you should focus on protein to get the best results. Many women fall short in their protein intake, according to Precision Nutrition, but getting enough protein can actually help you shed pounds. Protein takes more energy to digest than carbs or fats, so including more of it in your diet actually boosts your metabolism. And protein also provides nutritional support for your workouts, so you can build sleek, lean muscle tissue to get a toned appearance.

I have been logging my food on Lose It for a couple years now and they recommend 1160 calories per day for me. That seems to maintain my current weight and if I go over on a meal out to dinner or a restaurant my weight can jump 2 lbs. your recommendation is 1200 calories for women. I don’t think could work for me. Comments please.
