I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty skeptical about weight loss programs, simply because so many of them have let me down. That’s why I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the Venus Factor was something different and it didn’t seem like another gimmick. Actually, I believe it’s helping me override my metabolism. Also, let’s face it: I needed someone to hold my hand through it. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone to the grocery store with the best of intentions, only to find out that I really had no idea what I was supposed to eat instead. I’ve always wanted to eat the right things, but what stops me is often not poor willpower so much as confusion about what I should eat instead. That’s where the program helped me, thanks to the Virtual Nutritionist.

Counseling and community: Think about whether you need one-on-one guidance from an expert or a supportive diet-related community to succeed on a weight loss program. Some people prefer to go it alone or involve their friends or family rather than a forum, but others enjoy finding acceptance and encouragement from others who are using the same program.

If you don’t want to be fat, don’t eat it, right? Actually, fat intake plays a very important role in losing it. Without it, we can’t absorb nutrients like Vitamins D, E, K and A. It’s also a key player in giving skin that glow of good health. Plus, good ‘heart-healthy’ fats (like mono and poly unsaturated and Omega 3 & 6 fatty acids) you find in avocado, and nuts/seeds have been linked to improved brain health and reduced cholesterol levels.

You can safely aim to lose 1 percent of your body weight in a week. So a 200-pound person who wants to lose two pounds a week will calculate that they need to cut out 1,000 calories a day. Keep this up and you could lose 50 pounds in 25 weeks!

It’s easy to tell yourself that you’ll wake up for a run at 6 a.m., but it’s another thing to actually do it. Use your social networks to help keep you in check. Let people know that you’ll be up for a run and ask if anyone wants to join you. Share a post-workout selfie or join an online community where members cheer each other on.

The secret to maintaining healthy body weight lies in a planned calorie intake that will boost metabolism and induce fat burning. Boosting the metabolic rate is vital for weight loss and it can be done with the home remedies to boost metabolism. This can also be achieved with our new 1200 calorie diet plan.

“I quit smoking, and right away joined a gym and started working out with a personal trainer. There was no way I could exercise and feel healthy if I kept lighting up. I’ve already dropped 37 pounds in three months!” —Leila Fathi, Memphis, TN

“My dog and I go for a walk every day, even if it’s for just 10 minutes around the block. When the weather is horrible, her enthusiasm gives me the incentive to get out when I wouldn’t dare lace up my sneakers otherwise. All the walking adds up: I’ve lost more than 50 pounds this past year.” —Jamie Altholz, Denver, CO

I used to think eating fish meant eating salmon or some other expensive fish that needed to be cooked. I would add in some tuna for lunches and that would help. One night I was watching Alton Brown discuss his diet success and he mentioned eating sardines or other canned versions of fish. You may try these options to see if they help.

If you tried a weight loss diet you know that seeing results takes time and there’s no overnight quick fix. However there are scientifically proven ways to lose weight more effectively and faster than with traditional low-fat diets.

“I try to fit in small bouts of exercise whenever possible, like doing jumping jacks or crunches during television commercials or dancing while washing dishes. This burns extra calories and keeps me from mindlessly munching in front of the TV. Now my clothes fit way better, and I’m more toned than ever.” —Megan Tiscareno, Hammond, IN

If I showed you my picture from back then, you probably wouldn’t believe it. As I tweaked my diet and lifestyle, my puffy cheeks went down and the fat around my thighs melted away. I still have to eat on the go sometimes, but what and how I eat is different. Of course I look better now but I feel better, too, because I have more energy, more mental focus, better sleep, and the list goes on.

Do it better: Short bursts of intense activity burn more calories—and up to 36% more fat, according to a study published in the Journal of Applied Physiology. Strolling around the mall or a park for an hour works off about 150 calories; pick up the pace 1 minute out of every 5 to burn over one-third more calories (try a similar method if you bike). Swimmers can switch from freestyle or breaststroke to a more challenging crawl every few laps, or just go a little faster. Give these quick calorie-burning interval workouts a try.

Aim for roughly 30 grams at each meal, and more if you tend to crave carb-rich foods. “In my practice, I notice that dietary patterns tend to shift somewhat with age, and as people get older, the calories that were once spent on lean protein might now be spent on carbohydrates or fats.” Not only does adequate protein help support muscle growth and repair (which, coupled with resistance training, will help increase metabolic rate and overall calorie burn), but it’s also more satiating than carbs and fats, meaning you’ll be less likely to reach for unhealthy snacks, says Bowerman. (You can drink your protein with these 20 protein-packed smoothie recipes.)

“If you’re feeling deprived by your diet, build in a cheat meal at least once a week in which you can indulge guilt-free. Doing this will help you avoid viewing certain foods as ‘off limits,’ which will help you crave them less.” — David Zinczenko, author of  Zero Belly Cookbook: 150+ Delicious Recipes to Flatten Your Belly, Turn Off Your Fat Genes, and Help Keep You Lean for Life!

50 is just a number. And you are young at heart. But is your body telling you otherwise? Scientifically speaking – after 30, with each passing year, you lose 1% percent of your muscle, which leads to slower metabolism (1). So by the time you are 50, your body’s metabolism is much slower, and your vital hormones are almost undetectable. As a result, you gain weight quickly, muscles sag, and you harbor a host of health problems. Want to know how to counteract them? Start here, start now. Read on to find out the 15 different ways of weight loss for women over 50. Just a heads-up, you will love the last point.

Hi Haley, glad to hear you loved it! 🙂 Yes, just continue on to the more difficult exercise plan from where you left off. There’s no need to start from the beginning. To make things more difficult, you can also start changing the upper, lower and total body workout routines to make them more challenging. So instead of increasing how long you’re exercising to make it more difficult, just make the workouts more difficult. Plus, your body will get used to the workout routine after about 12 weeks. So even just changing the exercises you’re doing would be new and unusual for your body, making the new exercises more challenging. This will help you avoid a fitness or weight loss plateau, and help you to keep getting great results in terms of calorie burning, muscle strength and fitness, for a toned, strong body!

Hi Zoriana (beautiful name btw.). In many cases, initial weight loss is mostly due to higher water loss and the body cleaning out… not to say that you haven’t lost fat, but perhaps not 9 pounds. Loosing 5 pounds in two weeks makes much more sense and is also healthier. It’s fine to have a little bread, however, I would recommend you get your hands on sprouted whole grain bread and limit your portion size too. You may add more whole rice, sweet potatoes and oats/quinoa into you diet instead! Always try to incorporate more whole foods & less processed and package products into your diet 😉

“Stand whenever you can. Standing burns 1.5 times more calories than sitting. Stand when you’re at the doctor’s office, when you watch TV, even when you work at your computer—I put mine on the kitchen counter. Just stand.”

Often we think we’re hungry when our bodies are actually just begging for water. So it’s important to drink enough water throughout the day to stay hydrated. Rather that worrying about stomach bloat and water weight, you need to realize that water will actually reduce bloating and overall weight.

Essential for healthy digestion, fibre-rich foods can also help you slim down as they tend to be filling and low in fat. There are two types. Soluble fibre, which forms a gel-like substance that slows digestion, promotes nutrient uptake and helps lower cholesterol absorption. Insoluble fibre (‘roughage’) is what’s commonly known to promote regularity.

Although, it is evident that when following the 1200 calorie diet meal plan, a person cannot consume more than 1200 calories throughout the day, but it is important to divide these 1200 calories into 5 to 6 healthy meals and portions in order to keep it well-balanced and nutritious so that it can promote healthy weight loss without causing any side-effects like slowed down metabolism or nutritional deficiency. Nutritionists recommend that the 1200 calories meal plan should be structured as follows:

Just to give you bit of an idea about how much that is, consider this: a 160 pound person burns about 1,000 calories playing competitive soccer for 90 minutes.[3] That means you’d need to play competitive soccer for 7.5 hours during the day to burn 5,000 calories.

You might also want to join a weight loss group where you can talk about how it’s going with people who can relate. Or talk with someone you know who’s lost weight in a healthy way. Their encouragement is “contagious,” in a good way!

“Bottom line: Exercise or physical activity only brings about SMALL changes in weight. Do not gloss or obsess or tailor a weight loss plan solely around exercise. In fact exercising has its own line of benefits on lifestyle conditions and hence important too! Rather get a diet chart for weight loss and stick to it”

Don’t Eat With Your Emotions: We all get down in the dumps occasionally, which is why it’s important to recognize that psychological triggers can cause us to overeat (and under-eat). Taking time out and practicing mindfulness when eating can protect us from cravings and mindless binging.

Hi Amanda, welcome to MFS! Breakfast ideas: smoothies, quinoa or oat porridges, omelets, homemade burritos, homemade pancakes, fruit & nut bowl, etc. Focus on including as many REAL FOODS & ingredients into your recipes 🙂

The Diabetic Muscle and Fitness Nutrition Pyramid (pictured below) outlines all the nutritional aspects of building a successful fat loss diet for females living with diabetes. The most important factors are at the bottom and the least important factors are at the top.

This weight loss workout plan consists of both cardiovascular exercise and resistance training. The name of the game is to blitz fat, which means to burn as many calories as you can. Cardiovascular exercise burns a lot of calories, as such this weight loss workout plan is centred around cardio. And to really blitz the fat, you’ll be doing two types of cardio, steady-steate cardio and interval training.
